Plagius Software License and Terms of Use

This document sets out the terms of use and licensing conditions for the Plagius software between the CLIENT and the DEVELOPER, the author and copyright holder of the PROGRAM.

Important: please read this document carefully.

Plagius is licensed for use, not sold. By installing, copying, or using the PROGRAM, the CLIENT acknowledges that they have read, understood, and accepted these terms. If the CLIENT does not agree with any condition described here, installation and use of the PROGRAM must stop immediately.

Do not make any payment before confirming that the software works properly in your environment and meets your expectations. For evaluation purposes, simply download the program from the official website and use the trial version, which is limited to analyses of up to 500 words. Because this is a digital product with a trial version made available in advance, there will be no refund or reimbursement of amounts paid, except where required by applicable law.

If you have questions about the licensing of the PROGRAM, contact us at contato@plagius.com.

1. Definitions

  • DEVELOPER: GH Software Ltda., the company that owns the Plagius software.
  • CLIENT: the individual or legal entity that acquired a license to use the PROGRAM.
  • PROGRAM: the Plagius software, in the commercial versions sold and identified in the purchase confirmation email.
  • LICENSE: authorization to use the PROGRAM, individual, non-transferable, time-limited, and linked to 1 computer/user per purchased license.

2. Nature of use

Plagius is a support tool for identifying possible indications of plagiarism and AI-generated content.

The PROGRAM does not replace human review, academic assessment, legal analysis, editorial review, or any other specialized evaluation.

The software does not provide legal, academic, or expert opinions.

Use of the PROGRAM is granted under a temporary, individual, and non-transferable license. Purchasing the LICENSE does not transfer ownership of the software, its documentation, or any commercialization rights to the CLIENT.

3. Trial version and refunds

The PROGRAM may be downloaded and executed for evaluation purposes, without purchase or registration, through the trial version. In that mode, use is limited to analyses of up to 500 words and does not create any support obligation on the part of the DEVELOPER.

Given that a trial version is made available in advance for verification of the PROGRAM's functionality, there will be no refund or reimbursement of the amount paid for the LICENSE, except where required by applicable law and in concrete cases that justify specific review.

4. Scope of the license

The LICENSE:

  • does not constitute a sale of the PROGRAM;
  • does not transfer intellectual property ownership to the CLIENT;
  • grants a non-exclusive right of use;
  • is valid for 1 computer/user per purchased license;
  • is represented by the purchase confirmation email and the activation key registered in the DEVELOPER's database.

The CLIENT is expressly prohibited from transferring, commercializing, sublicensing, lending, renting, leasing, reselling, donating, auctioning, consigning, or otherwise assigning the LICENSE or the copy of the PROGRAM to third parties.

Breach of this clause may result in suspension or cancellation of the LICENSE, including prior notice to cure where applicable.

Copyright in the PROGRAM and its documentation remains the exclusive property of the DEVELOPER and is protected by applicable intellectual property law.

The CLIENT acknowledges that:

  • the PROGRAM is licensed, not sold;
  • all ownership and rights reservation notices must be preserved;
  • no rights not expressly granted in this document are transferred to the CLIENT.

6. Use restrictions

The CLIENT may not:

  • alter, adapt, translate, or modify the PROGRAM;
  • perform reverse engineering, disassembly, decompilation, or any attempt to discover the source code, except where legally permitted;
  • create derivative works based on the PROGRAM or its documentation;
  • sublicense, sell, resell, lend, rent, or distribute the PROGRAM, in whole or in part;
  • remove, hide, or modify copyright or proprietary notices.

7. License term and updates

The validity of the LICENSE varies according to the purchased version:

  • Basic: 30 days
  • Pro12: 12 months
  • Pro24: 24 months
  • Pro36: 36 months

The term is counted from the date the PROGRAM is purchased. After that period, the LICENSE must be renewed for continued use.

During the validity of the LICENSE, the CLIENT may receive updates made available through the internet and the DEVELOPER's website.

Updates may include bug fixes, security adjustments, operational improvements, and relevant enhancements to the functioning of the PROGRAM, while remaining tied to the same LICENSE.

8. Responsibilities and limitation of liability

The PROGRAM uses statistical and probabilistic methods and, therefore, its results may contain errors, false positives, and false negatives.

Interpretation of the results and the final decision on whether plagiarism or AI-generated content exists are exclusively the CLIENT's responsibility.

Under no circumstances will the DEVELOPER be liable for indirect damages, loss of profits, business interruption, failed academic outcomes, loss of information, or similar losses arising from the use of or inability to use the PROGRAM, except where otherwise required by applicable law.

The DEVELOPER's total liability for any claim related to the LICENSE is limited to the amount effectively paid by the CLIENT for the relevant LICENSE, except in cases where applicable law requires otherwise.

9. Software provided "as is"

The PROGRAM is provided "as is."

The DEVELOPER may review suggestions for improvement or requests for changes, without any obligation to implement additional features or changes requested by the CLIENT.

10. Warranty

During the validity of the LICENSE, the DEVELOPER guarantees:

  • release and reissue of the activation key in cases of computer formatting and/or replacement, subject to the conditions of the active license;
  • that reasonable efforts will be made to keep the PROGRAM substantially compatible with the published technical specifications for the licensed version;
  • that, if an error arises that makes the PROGRAM unusable during the validity period of the LICENSE, there will be an attempt to provide a correction or a reasonable alternative solution.

11. Technical support

The DEVELOPER provides free technical support for installation and use of the PROGRAM through support@plagius.com to registered users during the validity of the LICENSE.

Support includes, among other matters:

  • bug fixes;
  • questions about use of the PROGRAM;
  • resending the activation key;
  • changing the email address linked to the activation key.

Charges may apply in cases such as:

  • license unlocking;
  • uninstallations;
  • release of computers currently in use;
  • checking active users;
  • scheduled technical service;
  • confirmation of breach of these terms.

Any charges will depend on a prior estimate informed to the CLIENT and on the CLIENT's approval.

Technical support hours are Monday through Friday, on business days, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

This document is governed by the laws in force in the Federative Republic of Brazil.

The courts of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, shall have jurisdiction over disputes related to this licensing, except where applicable law establishes a different mandatory venue.
